Via Colm MacCárthaigh : apparently the Dutch have abandoned e-voting after years of using a system they didn't know was insecure.
Bertie Ahern spent 60 million euro on ostensibly the same e-voting system a few years ago but never got to deploy it. The Taoiseach has regularly complained loudly about the luddites who got in his way and how the world would laugh at the Irish with our quaint old voting pencils. So I don't suppose this news will help him to change his mind about the machines and scrap them... that is if the news ever reaches him. He has recently been rather preoccupied with his cross examination at the hands of tribunal looking into his personal finances.
